The history of Lindberg
Founded in Denmark in 1983, Lindberg is the brainchild of a father and son team, namely optometrist Poul-Jørn Lindberg and architect Henrik Lindberg.
Their aim was to combine their unique talents and knowledge to produce eyewear that was cutting-edge in design yet comfortable to wear. And that is exactly what they achieved with their stripped-back yet functional frames.
Fast forward to 2021 and Lindberg became part of the global luxury goods group Kering, specifically Kering Eyewear. But the Lindberg approach remains, with every frame still designed and made in Denmark to the exacting requirements that first brought the brand success.
Lindberg’s concepts
There are 3 main principles to Lindberg – minimalist design, top-quality craftsmanship and technological innovation.
When it comes to aesthetics, the designers draw on the Scandinavian “less is more” philosophy. Sleek yet snug. Striking styles yet perfectly practical too.
Each pair of glasses is meticulously crafted by hand through a combination of the latest technology and traditional techniques. The result is truly distinctive eyewear.
Lindberg’s breakthrough came with the introduction of their iconic Air Titanium frames – the world’s first screwless titanium glasses – which revolutionised the industry with their lightweight and durable design.
It, therefore, comes as no surprise that the brand has won 112 design awards to date, confirming the continuous innovation deeply ingrained in its ethos.
